Expert Insight

Who: Written by Tanvir Rahman, payments and MFS analyst. How: Upay routes were tested on the operators that list it, using the same measurement approach as the bKash and Nagad tests. Why: Upay is the cheapest wallet to exit and almost nobody covers it.

In short

Upay, operated by UCB, has the lowest agent cash-out charge of the four main wallets at around 1.40%. Its problem is acceptance — comparatively few casino operators list it. Where it is supported, deposits credited in 5–20 minutes and the usual name-match rule applies.

Upay is the cheapest of the four wallets to take money out of, and the hardest to use for casino play because so few operators accept it. That combination makes it worth checking for but not worth planning around.

This guide covers what it costs, which flows work, and how to decide whether it is worth keeping active alongside bKash and Nagad.

What Upay costs

Around 1.40% to cash out at an agent — the lowest of the four main wallets, and roughly a quarter cheaper than bKash.
WalletAgent cash-outCost per ৳10,000Annual cost at ৳10,000/month
UpayAbout 1.40%৳140৳1,680
NagadAbout 1.45%৳145৳1,740
RocketAbout 1.80%৳180৳2,160
bKashAbout 1.85%৳185৳2,220

The gap between the cheapest and dearest is about ৳540 a year on that volume. Real, but smaller than the acceptance problem it comes with.

On limits: MFS transaction ceilings in Bangladesh are set by regulation and revised periodically, and each provider applies its own tiers on top. The figures here were accurate at the time of writing — confirm the current ceiling in your wallet app before planning a large transfer. The governing framework is Bangladesh Bank’s mobile financial services circular.

The acceptance problem

Upay appears on noticeably fewer casino cashiers than bKash or Nagad. Where it does appear it is often a tertiary option with less support coverage behind it.

This is the deciding factor. A wallet that saves ৳45 per ৳10,000 but is unsupported when a deposit goes missing is a false economy.

Our approach: keep Upay as a withdrawal destination where the operator supports it properly, and deposit with whatever the operator handles best.

The deposit flow

Identical in structure to the other wallets — receiving number from the cashier, Send Money from the app, transaction ID submitted back.
  1. Select Upay at the cashier, if listed.
  2. Note the receiving number shown for this deposit.
  3. In the Upay app choose Send Money.
  4. Enter the number and the exact amount.
  5. Confirm with your PIN.
  6. Submit the transaction ID at the cashier.
If Upay is not listed: do not attempt to send to a bKash or Nagad number from a Upay wallet. Cross-provider transfers do not reconcile and the funds are difficult to recover.

Withdrawing to Upay

Where supported, Upay is the cheapest destination to withdraw to because the eventual agent cash-out costs least. The usual conditions apply unchanged.
Important: some operators accept a wallet for deposits but not for withdrawals. Check the payout method list before depositing, not after.

Is Upay worth keeping active?

Yes as a third wallet, no as your only one. The registration costs nothing and the cheaper exit is useful when an operator happens to support it.
Use caseVerdict
Only walletNo — acceptance too narrow
Primary deposit methodOnly where clearly first-class at your operator
Withdrawal destinationYes where supported — cheapest exit

Practical wallet setup for Bangladesh

bKash for acceptance, Nagad for cheap and widely supported withdrawals, Upay or Rocket held in reserve. All registered in your own name.

The name requirement is not a formality. A wallet registered to a relative cannot receive a payout, and discovering that after a win is a genuinely difficult position to resolve.

Common Upay issues

Most problems are acceptance-related rather than technical — the method disappears from the cashier, or works for deposits but not payouts.

Responsible Gaming

Deposit limits are the most effective control available to you, because they act before the money moves rather than after. Set one in your account settings on the day you register, while the decision is easy.

Under most operators' terms a limit increase takes effect only after a 24-hour delay, while a decrease applies immediately. Use that asymmetry deliberately. If you need to stop altogether, self-exclusion takes effect within 24 hours across every access point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do casino sites accept Upay in Bangladesh?
Some do, but acceptance is the narrowest of the four main wallets. Check the cashier before registering if Upay is the wallet you intend to use.
Is Upay the cheapest wallet for casino withdrawals?
On agent cash-out charges, yes — around 1.40% against roughly 1.85% for bKash. On ৳10,000 that is about ৳45 saved, though only where your operator actually supports Upay payouts.
Can I send money from Upay to a bKash deposit number?
No. Cross-provider transfers do not reconcile against a casino deposit and are difficult to recover. Use the wallet the cashier has issued a number for.
How long do Upay deposits take to credit?
Five to twenty minutes in our tests when the transaction ID was submitted — comparable to Rocket and slower than Nagad.
Should Upay be my main casino wallet?
Only if your operator treats it as a first-class method. For most players bKash or Nagad is the better primary, with Upay kept as a cheaper withdrawal destination where it is supported.
